Thank you Guido!
A very special moment. I was delighted to do a trip from Himmelried to Ziefen. Over the hills and through forrest, Ziefen is although a neighbourhood village. By car you drive from Himmelried over Steinegg / Moos to Sewen after the Ponyranch right hand side direction Bretzwil, after a junction in the middle of a field left over the Holzerberg and then after the gasoline station in Ziefen there is the
Hauptstroos 100 Bar of Guido Stohler and Genio Haas. Trip time 15 minutes.
If you go by public transportation i.e. bus the way leads from Himmelried Poststation to Grellingen, then Seewen, Bretzwil Dorf. There you need change to the BLT Bus direction Reigoldswil. In Reigoldswil you change again to another Bus direction Liestal. This trip takes you about an hour and you pass Lauwil.
Guess who is located there?
But lets get back to Guido, he was just in time there to open the Bar at 6pm. I was his first visitor ;) the Philipp from Himmelried. My beautiful wife once bought me vouchers but I even did not use them in the end.
Guido presented me on guidance of my darling a Ben Nevis 18 years from Cross Hill (1990) with 61.5% abv. That one smelled extremely like turps but that is not unusual for Ben Nevis. Adding two drops of water you get fruits and a smell of an old leather strap.
But out of curiousity over 61% abv and 18 years old, how come?
Guido explained to me that depending on type of storage and place the alcohole can even sum up and the angels share is not like usual half to one percent per year.
I could also tase a a Bunnahabhain 35 years old from Whisky-Doris with a strong taste and smell of cassis, and another one I cannot describe, I thought it was a Tomatin (it was somewhat cold). I was very happy to meet new people, hopefully we will meet each other once. So, Guido, it was not the last time I was visiting your bar.
